Yellon designed a new block at the former Sollentunamässan on commission by the housing companies Borätt/Seniorgården for the municipality's land allocation competition. Part of the assignment was to create a landmark with a 20-story residential building.
The challenge was to achieve a harmonious unity while making the most of location's context and history. How does one create a landmark out of a residential building? And how does one ensure that an entire residential block has a concept well-anchored to the area?
The location's maritime history as a former fairway for merchant ships inspired our design and conceptualization. The new block consists of approximately 220 apartments in nine buildings, each with its own character, yet coming together as harmonious entity.
